okras growing

We sprinkled few okra seeds late june to test how they come out. Within 30-40 days, okras started growing. Next year I am looking forward to make sure I will grow more plants in the composted bed. I cann't wait to use the growing ones in my Sambar.

Edible or not?????

I bought this plant while looking for Thai pepper and after coming home read the label closely and found that the new plant I got is Ornamental Thai pepper. I did some research and couldn't get to a conclusion if ornamental peppers are edible or not. Some say they are not edible and are for purely ornamental purpose and some say they are not recommended to eat as they are too hot.

Its end of July and almost half of summer is over. But tomatoes are bountiful and Siberian Tomato variety is producing enough for the whole family. We got few eggplants today which turned into a chutney.

Look at them...

Look at the wierd shaped cucumber, I believe poor pollination can be attributed to this shape...

Extra Tomato plants

This year I got more tomato plants than I can accomodate in a bed and some of them got root bound in their 8 ounce glasses and I put some of them in containers(not huge containers) just to get extra few tomatoes. They are adding numbers to the harvests.

This year the first cucumber is almost a month early. We were in so hurry to finish it that I even forgot to take a picture.
