Pi Day

Pi day has come and gone. We enjoyed few Pi pancakes to mark the occasion :)

Nutcracker Ballet Experience....

I had never been to Nutcracker and not sure what to expect. Other than knowing the story, I haven't found out what it would be like. It turned out absolutely fantastic and magical experience. Ballet dancers and the orchestra made our evening a memorable experience. They kept us captivated through out the performance.

Moori Laddo (Maramarala unda ..)

These are so easy to prepare and need very few ingredients (Moori, Jaggery, pinch of Cardamom powder and water). They are crunchy, a bit sticky and simply delicious.

To start with, I made sure both my helpers were wearing gloves and after a while I look back, this is what I get to see :)

Mom's Garden

You could find mums, marigolds, ornamental plants, Aloe vera and firecracker flowers (I know them as Kanakambharams and on googling found the english name).

 

Happy GroundHog Day!!

Even the ground hog is out today to see its shadow and tell us that spring is only 6 weeks away. So, I felt I should at least write something today. Its been 2 months from my last post. Holidays, Vacation and my laptop is out of hard drive space (I used have all pictures downloaded to my laptop, now it needs little cleanup before I can download anymore) are the reasons for not posting. I do have several pictures to post. Coming up soon....

My daughter thinks...

...its Mr and Mrs Mallard family. After counting the ducks, I had to agree with her as you can find Mr. & Mrs Mallard + Jack, Kack, Lack, Mack, Nack, Ouack, Pack, and Quack :)

Fatteh

We tried our version of Fatteh with toasted pita, homemade hummus and yogurt seasoned with chilli powder, cumin powder and cilantro and it turned out quite tasty. Now, this will be frequent snack we may be looking forward to enjoy.

Is the season over??

 

 With warm fall season we had, I still cann't believe the gardening season is over. I should have pulled all these plants and cleaned up before we had the Oct snow. I was waiting for the leaves to turn color and rake, before all those things happened we had the first snow storm. The support  provided for the vines was down with snow. The support stood all strong for Hurricane Irene but couldn't withstand the early snow.

Always amazes me..

The way bridges are constructed, so that they raise to give way to boats and ships and close to support road/rail traffic.
