Extra Tomato plants

This year I got more tomato plants than I can accomodate in a bed and some of them got root bound in their 8 ounce glasses and I put some of them in containers(not huge containers) just to get extra few tomatoes. They are adding numbers to the harvests.

My experiment with Carrot

Harvested some carrots for the first time and as soon as they are washed they disappeared in the matter few minutes. They were so juicy and yummy. I tried the baby carrot variety, but they grew little taller than described on the seed packet.
Prepared a seed mat (Annies Kitchen Garden) as the seeds are so tiny and then tried these in a big container.
Within less than 2 months, they are ready and enjoyed the carrots. I may try more next year or will see if I could do some late summer or fall planting.

Yay!!! I can see veggies growing

Sungold F2 hybrid cherry tomato
Its so nice to see the first veggies showing up. Last month's warm weather made the tomatoes to set fruit a little early than previous years for me. I cann't wait to see them turn to red/orange.

June Vegatable bed Update - 13th

All the tomato plants are with flowers and some are with fruit already. Hot peppers are flowering, eggplant has many leaves but no signs of flowers yet. Chard and Basil planted are doing well in containers than here. One and only one cucumber flowers are pollinated. As with the good ones, bad guys (weeds) are also showing their presence. I wanted to mulch the bed but when I went shopping I could only see that mulch available in bags is colored and I didn't want to take any chance adding artificial colored thing here. I will see if I can get natural stuff soon.

Rose Buds...

Pink Promise
Roses are doing better this year, last year winter moth caterpillars started chewing the leaves and then followed by Aphids damage. This year timing for the winter moth caterpillars for our deciduous trees was almost on time and these roses got a spray too. Aphids are still around, but I am trying to spray some water and also trying to blow away the ones I see and roses are getting some energy to bud and bloom.
