End of May...whats growing??

They are here due to lack of bed space and extra potting mix..

I like this idea of planting the store bought scallions, the growth is enough to just garnish some soup

Basil is still a baby here...I know it grows like a weed, soon it will take over the whole container

Overwintered Oregano, I hope it puts on more growth

Eggplants

Cucumbers

Leftovers...

I think I may have to find someone to give them away soon before they get root bound

Overly seeded Fenugreek

Somehow I didn't paid much attention when adding fenugreek seeds to this pot and the growth is so close that I won't get better harvest unless I thin some of the seedlings.

Sun can do magic...

I remember the top hat blueberry with no leaves couple of days back and couple of days of warm weather and look at the new foliage. Again its a lonely blueberry bush/plant. I know its better to have more than 1 plants to have good pollination to get fruit. Hopefully next year I should do that. Even it has not given me any fruit it is interesting just to watch it grow in summer and then have colorful foliage in fall and shed its leafs in winter and comeback again in spring. I have this from 2009.

Chard in the container

Vegatable bed - May 25th

Some of the transplants include Early Girl tomatoes, 1 Sungold cherry tomato, persian cucumbers, classic eggplants, etc. If you give a closer look you can a bird. I am guessing its eating some of the Okra and ridge gourd seeds I have sown directly. I feel I may have to germinate a couple indoors just in case nothing sprouts in that area. The eggplants are in small containers, I am sure those container are too small for classic eggplants, but I have holes in the bottoms to let the roots go into the ground. I got this idea from AnniesKitchenGarden. At the same time my containers are NO WAY in comparison with what Granny does as I don't have any support :). It would be interesting to see how they do.

Look at that ugly fence, it needs a clean up, the maple and other other weeds are growing like crazy.

Chicken Or the Egg....just a thought

Transplants from nursery

I have wintersown marigolds this year like last year but high winds blew away my plastic container. They disappeared altogether, so got few from Mahoneys garden center. Couldn't resist to pick Early Girl tomato as this variety gives tomatoes just in 57 days after transplanting. Hopefully I should have some tomatoes in mid to late july.

Introducing Mint 'Kentuky Colonel'

Last year's Mint plant did not survive as I couldn't get it to overwinter in the ground. I left the pot and it did not make it. Hence, comes this new addition. I do use Mint a lot in cooking and 1 pot is perfect for my needed.

Seedling Update - May 9th

Its a long due update for the seedling. I have half of them (Sun flowers, Cherry Tomato, Eggplants) outside day and night from last 4, 5 days. Some of them(Okra, Ridge Gourd, Bitter Gourd, 1 Cucumber and Sweet Basil) are in the basement. Vegatable bed is ready and night temparatures are also in 40s and 50s, but I am just waiting for some more warmer weather. Hoping they grow a bit more and get little sturdy before hitting the ground. Once they are in ground and get somesummer sun, no one can stop them :)

White hyacinth in the backyard

Tupperware turned into a bird feeder as...

my real bird feeded got eaten partly by squirrels :). Picture of the real bird feeder is missing here. I know that squirrels do eat the food but never knew that they would also chew the feeded itself.....

Garden Center

Stopped by the Russells Garden Center and picked a Mint plant. Last time I purchased 3 years back and every year I was putting it in ground for winter and getting it back in spring. This time I left it in the pot and it almost died with one last tiny green root. I am not sure if that survives so got a new one.

Trip to Garden in the Woods

Lovely Spring Day and great shot hike. This was perfect for my toddler as she enjoyed the walk too.

Wish them luck...

Rose plants are growing, but they need close inspection as they were infected by Aphids last 2 years. When I planted them 3 years back I got some lovely flowers the first year but then I realized that I planted them in a wrong spot as we have a flowering cherry tree close by and Winter moth caterpillars on them attached my roses and alonf with them Alphids. Next 2 years they fought back as I tried neem spray. I hope I get some time to fertilize them and clean up the bed to enjoy them this year
