Today's Harvest




 Its end of July and almost half of summer is over. But tomatoes are bountiful and Siberian Tomato variety is producing enough for the whole family. We got few eggplants today which turned into a chutney.

Look at the wierd shaped cucumber, I believe poor pollination can be attributed to this shape...

Extra Tomato plants


This year I got more tomato plants than I can accomodate in a bed and some of them got root bound in their 8 ounce glasses and I put some of them in containers(not huge containers) just to get extra few tomatoes. They are adding numbers to the harvests.

Mid July Harvest..

Sizing up...

All the vegatables are sizing up and getting ready for harvest. The solo cucumer plant has given us 2 huge cucumbers and now with 2 more to get ready. There have been lot of female flowers but not many are getting pollinated.

Harvest on July 6th

Here are few cayenne peppers, early jalapeneos, sweet basil and cherry tomatoes. (I tried sungold F2 hybrid and 1 plant is bearing orange fruit and another red fruit).

Ridge Gourd
I am trying some warm season crops, which may not be too ideal for new england weather, but experimenting to see what they have in store for me. Sowed Ridge Gourd, Bitter Gourd and Okra seeds and only Ridge Gourd and Okra seeds germinated showing some presence. Now its waiting and watching and fertilizing for the rest of the season....
